Jake was born in 1997 and grew up in Grand Ledge, Michigan. He earned his B.S. in chemistry from the University of Michigan. While there, he conducted research in Prof. John Montgomery's lab exploring substrate effects on site-selective biocatalytic C-H bond oxidation. In 2019, Jake made the move to Berkeley to pursue his passion for methodology-based research and found a happy home in the Hartwig lab. He is currently working on the silylation and borylation of C-H bonds. Outside of lab, Jake enjoys singing, playing basketball, cooking, and roman history.
